PITTSBURGH — The origin story of the long-abandoned seven-story structure at 129 McKean St. on an industrial stretch of the South Side was as obvious as it was irresistible to Anthony Mazzarini Jr.
“It was a whiskey distillery,” said Mazzarini, president and CEO of Big Spring Spirits, recalling its history as the sole operation of the Joseph S. Finch Distillery, a major whiskey maker of its time. . “That’s really what intrigued us to go out and find a partner who was a distiller.”
This partner was joined by a host of others in an ownership group representing professionals from the construction, finance, real estate, plumbing and spirits industries to celebrate the inauguration of the restoration of the building as a distillery.
