Could the Disney Store make a triumphant return to the Jersey Shore?



After losing the Disney Store at Monmouth and Ocean County malls a few years ago and losing the final location of the Freehold Raceway mall in March, I thought they would never come back to New Jersey. However, after some surprising recent news, it could be a reality.

You may have heard that Toys’ R Us will be making a comeback in NJ as they will be opening stores that are open inside Macy’s in over 400 locations. Well, the folks behind The Disney Store are going to do something similar with Target and an exclusive partnership. In all, there will be 160 of these stores and calculations tell me that at least a few will be in our state and at least 1 on the Jersey Shore. I asked my magic 8-ball if we would come to Ocean or County Monmouth and the answer was “as I see it, yes”.

These new Disney-Target collaborations would be less than 1,000 square feet and would include Disney products and a whole different look. It won’t just be a Disney alley. You will feel like you’ve walked into a completely different store. The launch of these stores will take place by the end of this year!
