Destiny Meshal Gibson, 37, of Altoona, died early Saturday morning, January 1, 2022, at her home. She was born in Johnstown, the daughter of the late Richard Williams and the late Christine (Gates) Smith.

She married Christopher R. Gibson on January 2, 2006 in Altoona.

In addition to her husband of 15 years, Destiny is survived by two daughters, Amiradama Smith-Banks and Ce’lestine Gibson; his mother, Christine Smith; two siblings, Parris Smith of State College and Kassandra Smith of Altoona; two aunts, Kelly Dempsey (Michael) of Pittsburgh and Paulette De’Jesus (Orlando) of Delaware; and many extended family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her father, Richard Williams; one brother, Rodney Smith; an aunt, Patrice Joanne Gates; maternal grandparents, Warren A. and Bernadette (Feketi) Gates; and his stepmother, Anita Gibson.

Destiny attended Fourth Avenue Mennonite Church in Altoona. She enjoyed attending Bible study with her friends: Anna Mae, Gloria, Joanne, Lorraine, and Mabel.

She graduated from Altoona Area High School in 2002.

Destiny loved listening to music, spending time with family, friends and her two cats.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Fourth Avenue Mennonite Church, 2500 Fourth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, with Brother Tim Martin officiating.

Arrangements are by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
