Nobody likes to move, right? Sure, the idea of ââmoving to a different house or office is exciting, but the actual moving process sucks. Think how painful it is / was to just move your family – now imagine it on a much larger scale, like a whole business. I can tell you from personal experience, however, that the process isn’t as bad when you know you are moving into a brand new office. This is what happened to us a few years ago when we moved into our current home in the Fifth Third Building, and is what will soon happen to the people who work at Marshall in Evansville.
According to the Evansville 411 NEWS Facebook page, the department store chain will soon be heading a little further east and setting up next to Academy Sports on Burkhardt Road. The new Marshall’s will be located at 1001 Hirschland Road and will be part of the Village at The Promenade.
This move was originally scheduled for 2020, but was delayed for obvious reasons. The new provisional opening date is set at “end of 2021”.
What do you think of the decision to move, and perhaps more importantly, the decision to build new, as opposed to occupying an already vacant building? Several of the people who comment on Facebook aren’t too thrilled about this. Here are some food for thought in the comments section …
“Lots of empty buildings to put this in. It will be empty in a few years.”
“… why do we need more buildings constructed when we have voids to fill?” “
“And empty storefronts abound. The traffic on Burkhart will only get worse.”

Do you remember what those companies in Evansville were?
On this flashback Thursday, let’s take a trip down memory lane to see if you can remember what was once in those Evansville businesses.
